Dyslexia Surrey was founded by Angie Nicholas, an experienced SEND Specialist who has worked in this field for over 20 years. An experienced SENCo she also worked for a leading educational charity, Dyslexia Action where she worked with Martin Turner (author of The Dyslexia Portfolio) to pioneer the very first assessments offered by specialist teachers.
While at Dyslexia Action she was part of the team who developed a suite of postgraduate courses that ensured that specialist teachers were trained to the highest level. She then assumed the position of Programme Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).
Angie has a wealth of experience having worked with individuals with dyslexia, dyspraxia, sensory impairments, autism and attention deficits. She has co-written several books on Dyslexia and Specialist Assessment.
She is a qualified specialist teacher and assessor holding an approved qualification (as noted in the SpLD Working Group 2005/DfES Guidelines)
